Inspiration

Aside

To live a creative life, we must lose our fear of being wrong.

~ Joseph Chilton Pearce

I love this quote and it is something I really need to remember. I actually found this quote a few hours after my drawing class with Loretta Puncer. One thing that I have found difficult in the class is adding value to a picture because I automatically think I will do it wrong. So this is definitely something I will need to work on.

I am a little behind on the Strathmore Visual Journal Workshop so hopefully I can watch the videos and finish the assignments in the next couple days.

Here is another doodling picture i completed using Sharpies.

Many times I find myself doodling during lectures because it helps me stay focused on what the professor is saying.

Doodles Unleashed- Week 1

Last week I found an online workshop led by Traci Bautista on http://www.strathmoreartiststudio.com. This was actually my second attempt the first one didn’t start out right. I tried to mix paint and water in a spray bottle but I could never get it right and my paper was just soaked. I ended up using Tulip Fabric Spray Paint, which I absolutely love. I also used acrylics, watercolors, oil pastels, India ink and a correction pen. And of course I used this workshop as an excuse to pick up some Copic markers and Sharpie Poster Paints.

My Updates

The past week has been a hectic for me. My 8 year old and 3 year old returned to school. And my classes also started, I am currently working on an MBA. But sense I am committed to growing as an artist, I did manage to squeeze time for a few projects. First, I have started to organize my art supplies in a small space in my living room instead of having them scattered everywhere. Still a ways to go but definitely a good start.

Here are the journal pages I completed this week.

I just received a shipment of books and I can’t wait to start learning new techniques and new materials. I really love learning about new techniques through books and online classes so if you have any recommendations I would appreciate it.

This week I will be attending a drawing class so I a really excited to start because I have absolutely no drawing skills.

Goals For The New Year

Today I decided to write out my short term goals for 2012.

  1. Write for 5 minutes daily in my poetry journal.
  2. Take 10 decent photos (monthly)
  3. Read an art how to book (monthly)
  4. Make one handmade gift (monthly)
  5. Enroll in art and writing classes/workshops.
  6. Start a blog. I accomplished this goal on New Years Eve.

New Beginnings, New Year

You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream. ~C.S. Lewis

I decided one of my goals for 2012 is to join the blogging community. I look forward to sharing my thoughts, art and photography with others. I hope you join me on this new adventure.
